Dental Fillings
Fillings restore decayed tooth structure and repair fractured or worn teeth.
Modern dentistry allows us to combine aesthetics and strength in fillings. Made from various materials, they closely mimic natural teeth, creating restorations that are nearly indistinguishable in appearance and durability.
Tooth-coloured Filling Procedures
The dentist will start with cavity preparation, removing decay and shaping the cavity. Next, a composite-resin tooth colored filling is added and cured with a light, followed by polishing to ensure a smooth fit.
If the cavity is too large for a standard filling, the dentist may recommend an inlay or onlay (partial crown). This involves making an impression, with the restoration prepared in a lab, and placed during a second visit.
Important Information about Fillings Aftercare
Although fillings are permanent, it is important for you to come in for regular check-ups. Over time, fillings may crack or wear down from the pressure of chewing.
During your routine exams, the dentist will assess the condition of your fillings and suggest a replacement if any issues are found.
